The book begins with a routine space junk cleanup mission in Earth’s orbit; with a small spaceship being prepped for de-orbit. The crew doing the cleanup investigates the ship, and, much to their horror, an alien Xenomorph stowaway on the derelict manages to board the cleanup crew's ship, and kill them. The ship is destroyed when one of the crewmembers panics and collides the cleanup ship with the derelict. However, everything was captured by the cleanup ship's black box.
Later in the story, thanks to the help of the only survivor, the TIA (a CIA-like organization) are able to capture an alien and bring It back to Earth. Many different groups attempt at stealing the alien, including the species they stole it from. However, the TIA wants to continue visiting the planet to do further research. Much to their displeasure, their ship is bombarded by aliens attacking them, pushing them back, and demanding their own back. On Earth, the religious alien cult has successfully broken into the biowarfare lab containing the alien specimen, and has released wild aliens onto the planet. The aliens are slowly taking over, despite the best efforts of Earth defense forces. Over a period of several months, the aliens so completely dominate the planet that most humans have been killed, and the rest have evacuated to earth orbit or other planets.
This story was very fictional, and not plausible if Aliens were to be discovered. However, it was a ery interesting story and book to read. If you're bored over the summer and need a good book to read, I would definately recommend buying Aliens: Earth Hive.
